Galaxy S5 will be the next flagship smartphone from korean giant Samsung featuring Flexible OLED display panels for the first time in smartphone history. The expectations were that flexible display will be launched with latest flagship Galaxy S4 but Samsung decided to go against it. Despite this, Galaxy S4 is Samsung’s fastest selling smartphone by shipping 10 million units within 27 days. The development and designing teams are working really hard to bring flexible displays on to smartphones. Samsung officially unveils YOUM display panels (pictured above) at CES 2013 showing off a plastic based AMOLED display that will be used in next flagship smartphone. The Galaxy S5 is rumored to be lightest and thinnest smartphone in the world. It will also be the first smartphone to feature finger print scanner. The finger print scanner can be used as a security system to unlock smartphone and authenticate app purchasing and all kind of password related scenarios. The Galaxy S5 is rumored to pack a 5-inch curved OLED display. It will be powered by Octa core processor and 4GB RAM. The battery life on next flagship will be significantly higher because of Flexible OLED display. Apple iPhone 5S
iPhone 5S will be the next flagship smartphone from Cupertino giant Apple featuring its next generation iOS7. It will be the successor to current flagship ,iPhone 5 (pictured above). The iPhone 5S is rumored to pack 4-inch Super HD display. It will be powered by 1.5GHz quad core processor and 2GB RAM. For connectivity, iPhone 5S will support Bluetooth 3.0, Wifi 802.11 b/g/n, LTE connections and NFC technology. There is no further information available on the hardware but rumors are that the new iPhone 5S will just feature a software upgrade and will have the same form factor as the flagship iPhone 5. The iPhone 5S is expected to go in full production in Q1 and will be launched during Q2 of next year. It will be launched alongside second generation iPad Mini 2. IPhone 5S is a decent upgrade but Apple is risking a backlash by launching new products within 6 months (as seen after iPad 4 launch). Update : Apple’s next flagship iPhone 5S is expected to be available during July 2013. New leaked documents (Japanese telecom KDDI) suggest that iPhone 5S will be available on pre order from June 20th.
HTC One Google Edition
HTC One Google Edition will be the special edition smartphone from HTC featuring Google’s stock Android OS. The Taiwanese company is following Samsung by launching a flagship smartphone with stock Android OS. HTC One Google Edition will not feature the popular Sense 5 UI. The specs on Google Edition HTC One will be similar to latest flagship HTC One. There is no further information available on the smartphone but it is expected to launch during Q3 of 2013. Amazon Phablet
Amazon will enter smartphone industry with a new flagship phablet device featuring Google’s latest Android 4.2 OS. It is also known by its codename, Amazon Blaze. The online retail giant has decided to go with latest trend by adding a large 5.3-inch display. The blaze was previously rumored to feature a 4.3-inch display but new reports suggest that Amazon’s first smartphone will pack 5.3-inch HD display. It will come pre-installed with Google’s Android 4.2 OS. There is no further information available on the phablet but it is expected to go on sale during Q3 of 2013. Samsung GT i8805
GT i8805 is rumored to be the codename for Samsung’s first Tizen powered smartphone. It will feature a 720p display. The GT i8805 will be powered by Cortex A9 processor and 1GB RAM. It will be the first smartphone to come pre-installed with Tizen OS. There is no further information available on the smartphone apart from a leaked image (pictured above) showing the codename and rumored specs. Huawei Ascend P6
The Huawei P6-U06 is rumored to be next high end smartphone from chinese manufacturer Huawei. It was previously leaked few weeks ago. In size, it only measures 132.6 x 65.5 x 6.18mm and weighs only 120g. The Huawei P6 will feature a 4.7-inch HD display with resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. It will be powered by 1.5GHz quad core processor and 2GB RAM. For multimedia, Ascend P6 is rumored to pack an 8 Mega Pixel rear camera capable of shooting HD videos and a 5 Mega Pixel front facing camera for video calls. It will come pre-installed with Google’s Jelly Bean (Android 4.1) OS. There is no further information available on the smartphone but Huawei is expected to launch Ascend P6 at a press event in London on June 18th. LG Flexible OLED display
LG is going to beat Samsung by launching world’s first Flexible display smartphone later this year. The korean company showed off its latest flexible display panels at annual SID event earlier this week. These display panels are based on Oxide TFT and will feature in next generation smartphones. The displays are very thin, unbreakable and consumes less power than current OLED displays. The 5-inch HD panel will feature 1.0mm bezel. LG electronics is expected to launch its first smartphone with Flexible display during Q4 of 2013. It will directly compete against Samsung’s next flagship, Galaxy S5. HTC Desire 600
Desire 600 is the latest mid range smartphone from HTC featuring Google’s Jelly Bean (Android 4.1) OS. It was previously leaked yesterday. The Desire 600 features a 4.5-inch Super LCD2 display with resolution of 540 x 960 pixels. It is powered by Qualcomm’s 1.2GHz Snapdragon 200 processor and 1GB RAM. For multimedia, it packs an 8 Mega Pixel rear camera capable of shooting 720p videos and 1.6 Mega Pixel front facing camera for video calls. The Desire 600 will come pre-installed with Google’s Jelly Bean (Android 4.1) OS. It is HTC’s first mid range handset to offer latest Sense 5 experience (HTC Blinkfeed & BoomSound). For connectivity, it supports Bluetooth 4.0, Wifi 802.1 b/g/n, GPS technology and HSPA+ mobile connections. For storage, it will come with 8GB built-in memory in addition to microSD card slot. There is no information available on pricing but Desire 600 (Dual SIM version) will be available in Russia, Ukraine and Asia from early June 2013.
