At the recent Lenovo Tech World 2017, the Chinese company has showcased the prototype for the next generation bendable/foldable smartphone/tablet hybrid. The design is similar to current tablets in the market with the exception of flexible display panel which can be folded in the middle to make a portable device.
The new smartphone/tablet hybrid prototype shown at Tech World 2017 features a 5.5-inch display with resolution of 1920 x 1440 pixels. It was running Google’s latest Android 7.0 Nougat OS. Rests of the specs are still unknown but Lenovo is expected to launch hybrid devices with foldable/bendable displays in the coming years. Stay tuned for more updates.
LG is going to beat Samsung by launching world’s first Flexible display smartphone later this year. The korean company showed off its latest flexible display panels at annual SID event earlier this week. These display panels are based on Oxide TFT and will feature in next generation smartphones. The displays are very thin, unbreakable and consumes less power than current OLED displays. The 5-inch HD panel will feature 1.0mm bezel. LG electronics is expected to launch its first smartphone with Flexible display during Q4 of 2013. It will directly compete against Samsung’s next flagship, Galaxy S5. The Curved Battery can power devices with curved screen or flexible designs such as flexible smartphones, watches and glasses. The company has the exclusive patent of Stack and Folding technology which reduces physical stress when realizing the curved design of battery packs. The Cable Battery can be used in devices that are bendable, wearable and even be tied into a knot. The Stepped Battery is an integral type of battery in which two batteries are added on top of each other in the shape of step design. The LG Chem will display and demonstrate future generation batteries at the InterBattery 2013 event in COEX on October 16th.
