Surface Pro is the latest flagship tablet/laptop hybrid from Microsoft featuring full Windows 8 operating system. Unlike Surface RT, Surface Pro comes with a full desktop version of Windws 8. Surface Pro is more than a tablet and can give serious competition to ultrabooks. In size, it only measures 275 x 173 x 13 mm and weighs only 907g (39% thicker and 34% heavier than Surface RT). The Surface Pro features a 10.6-inch display with the resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels (208ppi pixel density). The colors on 1080p display are vibrant and more accurate than any other tablet/laptop screen. Surface Pro is powered by 1.7GHz dual core Intel Core i5 processor with an integrated Intel HD Graphics 4000 and 4GB RAM. For multimedia, Surface Pro features two 720p display cameras, one at the back and other on front (Mainly for Skype video calls). For connectivity, it will support Bluetooth 4.0, Wifi 802.11 b/g/n-out and full size USB 3.0 port. Surface pro comes in two variants depending on the onboard storage – 64GB or 128GB. In addition to that it comes with a microSD card slot. The 64GB version model actually provides only 29GB of usable storage. On the other hand, the 128GB version offers 83GB of usable storage. The storage options can be increased by using cloud services like SkyDrive and Office 365. Users can also increase storage by copying recovery partition to a USB key and delete the onboard partition. Surface Pro can be transformed into a fully functional laptop by adding Type and Touch Covers via magnetic dock connector. Surface Pro also comes with a new pressure sensitive stylus made by Wacom technology. It is great for drawing apps and taking notes on the tablet. It can be attached to the power connector when not in use. The Surface Pro comes with a powerful 42Wh battery that lasts for up to 5 hours on a single charge. Overall, Surface Pro is a great tablet. It is fast, consistent thanks to its powerful dual core processor. 1080p display on the tablet is beautiful. The Surface Pro is now available in US and prices start from $899 for a 64GB model and $999 for a 128GB model. Rest of the world will get this latest flagship tablet during Q1 of 2013 and is expected to cost £799 (for 64GB version) and £899 (for 128GB version).
