Xperia Tipo is Sony’s new entry level smartphone for consumers buying their first smartphone. It is compact, measures only 103x57x13mm and weighs just under 100g. Xperia Tipo features a 3.2-inch 320×480 pixel shatterproof display. The powerhouse of this device is 800MHz Snapdragon processor with 512MB of RAM. Xperia Tipo runs Google’s Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0). All the usual Android features are here such as HSPA+ support, GPS, Wifi and bluetooth. Xperia Tipo comes with a 1500 mAh battery capable of giving up to 4.5 hours talktime and 22 days standby on 3G.
Overall, Xperia Tipo is an impressive entry level smartphone. There will be two versions of the Xperia Tipo, the standard one is single-SIM device but there will also be an Xperia Tipo dual which will be a dual-SIM device. Dual-SIMs are becoming mainstream after the release of Samsung Y Duos. Sony Xperia Tipo will be available by Q3 of 2012 in white, red, blue and black colours.
