Galaxy Gear is rumored to be the first smartwatch from korean giant Samsung featuring Google’s Android OS. It is also known by its codename Altios and was previously leaked few months ago. The smartwatch trend is gaining momentum since the launch of Pebble earlier this year. The Galaxy Gear is rumored to feature a 2.5-inch OLED display with resolution of 320 x 320 pixels. It will be powered by dual core processor. For connectivity, Galaxy Gear will support Bluetooth 4.0, Wifi 802.11 b/g/n and NFC technology. There is no further information available on Galaxy Gear it is expected to launch at IFA 2013 in Berlin on September 4th. The Galaxy Gear will comepete against other smartwatches like Pebble e-paper watch, New I’m Watch, Martian Passport Smartwatch, Toshiba Smartwatch and rumored Apple iWatch. Update : A new report from Bloomberg confirms that Samsung will unveil its first Smartwatch, Galaxy Gear at ‘Samsung Unpacked’ event on September 4th.
Update : The Samsung Galaxy Gear is rumored to feature a 1.67-inch display with resolution of 320 x 320 pixels. It will be powered by dual core 1.6GHz Smasung Exynos 5412 processor with an ARM Mali 400 GPU and 1GB RAM. In addition to that Galaxy Gear will come with 2MP camera. For connectivity, it will support Bluetooth, Wifi and NFC technology.
