Android KitKat is the latest version of Google’s Android operating system. It will be the successor to Jelly Bean OS. Each of the previous version of Android has been named after a dessert : Cupcake, Donut, Eclair, Froyo (Frozen Yogurt), Gingerbread, Honeycomb, Ice Cream Sandwich and Jelly Bean. The Android KitKat is designed to run fast, smooth and responsively on a much broader range of devices than ever before – including on millions of entry-level smartphones around the world that have RAM as little as 512MB. It streamlines every major component to reduce memory use and introduces new API and tools to help developers create innovative, responsive, memory efficient apps. The Android 4.4 introduces new platform support for secure NFC based transactions through Host Card Emulation (HCE), for payments, loyalty programs, card access, transit passes and other custom services.
