Samsung Galaxy 10.1
After the success of Galaxy Tab last year Samsung is releasing the bigger version, Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1. It is a serious challenger to iPad 2 in fast growing tablet market. Galaxy Tab 10.1 has 10.1 inch capacitive touchscreen with 1280 x 800 resolution. In size it is the slimmest tablet (246.2 x 170.4 x 10.9 mm) and weighs only 599g (22g lighter than Ipad or Xoom). The powerhouse of device is NVIDIA’s Dual core Tegra 2 processor running at 1GHz which makes the device quick and is great for multitasking. Galaxy Tab 10.1 runs Android 3.0(Honeycomb), Google’s current operating system. Main feature of the OS is browser that supports Html 5 and Flash 10.2 contents. This gives you great web browsing experience on high resolution screen. For connectivity Galaxy Tab 10.1 comes with Mobile Network Connections (3G, GPRS and HSPA+ connection), Wifi 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth 2.1 to share all those favourite music and multimedia files. For storage there are options of 16GB and 32GB which gives you plenty space to store all those favourite music and pictures. Galaxy tab 10.2 has dual cameras, 8 Mega Pixel on the back with autofocus and LED flash and 2 Mega Pixel front facing camera for video conference. Rear camera can also be used to shoot video of 1080 pixel. Other main features include gyroscope, accelerometer, compass and in-built GPS. Overall, Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 is most powerful Samsung tablet yet. Korean company has changed its stance on tablet by going for 10.1 inch screen. There will be strong competition from Motorola Xoom and RIM’s Blackberry playbook. And the lack of USB and HDMI ports can play into Motorola and RIM’s hand. Apple’s iPad 2 is the current leader in tablet industry but 2011 will bring new competitors in this fast growing market. Samsung Galaxy is available from all leading mobile operators.
Update : A german judge has blocked sales on Samsung Galaxy 10.1 after finding it breaching patent of Apple technology. So the tablet is currently unavailable in Europe. Other recent lawsuit resulted in this tablet being banned in Australia. Not a good news for Samsung but they are working with Apple to bring this dispute to end.
Update : Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 ban has been overturned and is now available worldwide from all leading mobile retailers.
