The Galaxy A8 is the latest mid-range smartphone from Korean giant Samsung featuring Google’s latest Android 5.1 OS. It was extensively leaked few weeks ago. The Galaxy A8 is also Samsung’s thinnest Galaxy smartphone measuring only 5.9mm in thickness. In size, it measures 157.7 x 76.7 x 5.9mm and weighs 151g. The Galaxy A8 features a 5.7-inch Full HD Super AMOLED display with resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. It is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 615 processor and 2GB RAM. For multimedia, the Galaxy A8 packs a 16 Mega Pixel rear camera with Optical Image Stabilisation and 5 Mega Pixel front facing camera for video calls and Selfie pictures. For connectivity, it supports Bluetooth 4.1, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n/ac, GPS/GPS-A, NFC technology, Dual SIM functionality and LTE mobile connections.
The Galaxy A8 comes pre-installed with Google’s latest Android 5.1 Lollipop OS. For storage, it comes with 16GB/32GB built-in memory and micro-SD card slot. The Galaxy A8 also comes with a fingerprint scanner, similar to Samsung’s latest flagship smartphones. In addition to that it comes with a powerful 3050mAh battery. The Galaxy A8 will be available in three different colors : black, white and gold. It will go on sale in selected regions in the coming weeks. Stay tuned for more updates.
Update : The Samsung Galaxy A8 will be available to purchase in China for 3199 CNY or $515 for 16GB variant. The 32GB model will go on sale for 3499 CNY ($564).
