Microsoft Officially Announces Lumia 640 And Lumia 640 XL

Microsoft has officially announced two new mid-range smartphones at Mobile World Congress this year : the Lumia 640 and Lumia 640 XL. Both smartphones are upgradeable to Microsoft’s next generation Windows 10 OS which is expected to launch later this year.

The Lumia 640 features a 5-inch HD IPS display with resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels (294ppi pixel density). in size, it measures 143.3 x 72.2 x 8.85mm and weighs 145g. The Lumia 640 is powered by 1.2GHz quad core Snapdragon 400 processor and 1GB RAM. For multimedia, it packs an 8 Mega Pixel camera with LED flash and a 1 Mega Pixel wide angle front facing camera for video calls and Selfie pictures. For connectivity, it supports Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, GPS/GPS-A and LTE mobile connections.

The Lumia 640 comes pre-installed with the latest Windows Phone 8.1 but will be upgradeable to Windows 10 later this year. For storage, it comes with an 8GB built-in memory, micro-SD card slot and 30GB free OneDrive Cloud storage. In addition to that it comes with a removable 2500mAh battery. The Lumia 640 ill go on sale in selected markets in April 2015 for $180.

The Lumia 640 XL features a 5.7-inch HD display with resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels (259ppi pixel density). In size, it measures 157.9 x 81.5 x 9mm and weighs 171g. The Lumia 640 XL is powered by 1.2GHz quad core Snapdragon 400 processor and 1GB RAM. For multimedia, it packs a 13 Mega Pixel rear camera with LED flash and 5 Mega Pixel front facing camera for video calls and Selfie pictures. The Lumia 640 XL comes pre-installed with the latest windows phone 8.1 OS but will be upgradeable to Windows 10 later this year. In addition to that it comes with an 8GB internal storage and 3000mAh removable battery that is expected to last whole day on a single charge. The Lumia 640 XL will go on sale in selected markets this month for $245. Stay tuned for more updates.
