The Redmi 2 is the latest entry level smartphone from Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi featuring Google’s Android 4.4 KitKat OS. It is the successor to the popular Redmi 1S which was launched last year. The Xiaomi Redmi 2 features a 4.7-inch HD display with resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels (312ppi pixel density). It is powered by 1.2GHz quad core 64-bit Snapdragon 410 processor and 1GB RAM. For multimedia, the Redmi 2 packs an 8 Mega Pixel rear camera and 2 Mega Pixel front facing camera for video calls and Selfie pictures. For connectivity, it supports Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, GPS/GPS-A, Dual SIM functionality and 3G or LTE mobile connections.
The Redmi 2 comes pre-installed with Google’s Android 4.4 KitKat OS and MIUI 6. For storage, it comes with an 8GB built-in memory and micro-SD card slot. In addition to that it comes with a 2200mAh battery that supports QuickCharge technology. The Redmi 2 will go on sale in China this coming Friday (January 9th) for $110. Stay tuned for more updates.
