BlackPhone is the latest flagship smartphone from Aerospace giant Boeing featuring Google’s Android OS. It is world’s safest smartphone and mainly aimed towards government agencies and security contractors. In size, it measures 131.9 x 67.6 x 13.25 mm and weighs 170g. The BlackPhone features a 4.3-inch IPS display with resolution of 960 x 540 pixels. It is powered by 1.2GHz dual core ARM Cortex A9 processor and 1GB RAM. For connectivity, it supports Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, HDMI port and LTE mobile connections. “The phone will be sold primarily to government agencies and companies engaged in contractual activities with those agencies that are related to defense and homeland security,” Boeing says.
The BlackPhone comes pre-installed with Google’s Android OS. According to the FCC filing report, “the Boeing Black phone is manufactured as a sealed device both with epoxy around the casing and with screws, the heads of which are covered with tamper proof covering to identify attempted disassembly. Any attempt to break open the casing of the device would trigger functions that would delete the data and software contained within the device and make the device inoperable,”. Boeing is expected to launch Black Phone in the coming weeks. Stay tuned for more updates.
