BlackBerry has officially announced, the BlackBerry Z3, a new all touch screen BlackBerry 10 smartphone mainly aimed at emerging markets. It was previously leaked few weeks ago and was also known by its codename ‘Jakarta’. The BlackBerry Z3 will feature a large 5-inch display, similar in size to current flagship, the BlackBerry Z30. For connectivity, it will support 3G mobile connections (No LTE connectivity).

The BlackBerry Z3 will come pre-installed with the latest BlackBerry 10.2.1 OS and features like BlackBerry Hub, BBM, BlackBerry’s popular virtual keyboard, Time shift, Story Maker, powerful BlackBerry 10 browser and built-in FM radio. Rest of the specifications are unknown but BlackBerry Z3 will be available to purchase from all leading mobile carriers and retailers in Indonesia in April 2014. There is no official information on pricing but it is expected to cost under $200. Stay tuned for more updates.

Update : BlackBerry Z3 is rumored to be powered by Qualcomm’s 1.2GHz dual core Snapdragon 400 CPU and 1.5GB RAM. For multimedia, it will pack a 5 Mega Pixel rear camera similar to BlackBerry Q5 and 1.1 Mega Pixel front facing camera for BBM Video calls. For storage, it will come with 8GB built-in memory and micro-SD card slot. BlackBerry Z3 is expected to go on sale in Indonesia in April 2014.

Update : During the Q4 FY2014 Earnings call, BlackBerry CEO John Chen confirmed that a LTE variant of BlackBerry Z3 will be launched in the coming months. The design and specifications of LTE variant will be similar to the BlackBerry Z3 with 3G connectivity.

Update : BlackBerry’s first entry level BlackBerry 10 smartphone will be available for pre-order on Indonesian retailer Elevenia for Rp 1650000 or $142 starting April 28th. The promotional price of $142 will end on May 7th 2014.

BlackBerry Z3 features a 5-inch qHD display with resolution of 960 x 540 pixels (220 ppi pixel density). It is powered by 1.2GHz dual core Snapdragon 400 processor and 1.5GB RAM. For multimedia, it packs a 5 Mega Pixel rear camera and 1.1 Mega Pixel front facing camera for BBM Video calls. For connectivity, the BlackBerry Z3 supports Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, GPS/GPS-A and 3G mobile connections.

The BlackBerry Z3 comes pre-installed with the latest BlackBerry 10.2.1 OS. For storage, it comes with an 8GB built-in memory and micro-SD card slot. In addition to that it comes with a powerful 2650mAh non removable battery.

BlackBerry Z3 features a 5-inch qHD display, 1.2GHz dual core MSM8230 processor, 1.5GB RAM, 5MP rear camera, NFC technology, 8GB built-in memory, 2500mAh battery that gives talk time of up to 15.5 hours and BlackBerry 10.2.1 OS.

Update : BlackBerry has officially announced that customers in Indonesia can now pre-order the BlackBerry Z3 smartphone through leading mobile retailers Indosat and XL. The BlackBerry Z3 will be officially unveiled at a press event in Jakarta on May 13th 2014.

Update : BlackBerry has officially unveiled, the new BlackBerry Z3 Jakarta Edition smartphone, at a press event in Jakarta, Indonesia. It will be available to customers from May 15th and expected to retail for IDR 2,199,000 (£112).

The BlackBerry Z3, Jakarta Edition is built exclusively for Indonesia and provides BlackBerry users more ways to connect and share, with an experience built on reliable, secure communications.

Update: BlackBerry has officially announced that launch weekend sales of BlackBerry Z3 smartphone were impressive. The Z3 was sold out on Friday at retailers all around Jakarta, including main promotional event in the city’s upscale Central Park Mall, where buyers lined up outside the mall before the event.
