Alcatel Launches OneTouch Idol 2 and Idol 2 Mini

Alcatel has launched its latest additions to the Idol Series at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The Idol 2 and Idol 2 Mini is the latest mid-range and budget friendly smartphones featuring Google’s 4.3 OS.

The Alcatel OneTouch Idol 2 features a 5-inch HD display with resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. In size, it measures 136.5 x 70 x 7.3mm and weighs only 129g. The Idol 2  is powered by 1.2GHz quad core processor and 1GB RAM. For multimedia, Idol 2 packs an 8 Mega Pixel rear camera and 1.3 Mega pixel front facing camera for video calls. For connectivity, it supports Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, NFC Technology, GPS/GPS-A and 3G mobile connections (Alcatel Idol 2 S supports LTE mobile connections. The Idol 2 comes pre-installed with Android 4.3 OS. For storage, it comes with 8GB internal memory and micro-SD card slot. In addition to that it comes with a 2000mAh battery that gives talk time of up to 15 hours.

The Alcatel OneTouch Idol 2 Mini on the other hand features a 4.5-inch qHD display with resolution of 960 x 540 pixels (245ppi pixel density). In size, it measures 129 x 63.5 x 7.9mm and weighs only 110g. The Idol 2 Mini is powered by a 1.2GHz quad core processor and 1GB RAM. For multimedia, Idol 2 Mini packs an 8 Mega Pixel rear camera and 2 Mega Pixel front facing camera for video calls. For connectivity, it supports Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, DLNA, USB2.0 and 3G mobile connections (Alcatel Idol 2 Mini S supports LTE mobile connections). The Idol 2 Mini comes pre-installed with Android 4.3 OS. For storage, it comes with 4GB internal memory and micro-SD card slot. In addition to that it comes with a 1700mAh battery that gives talk time of up to 20 hours.

The Alcatel OneTouch Idol 2 will go on sale in April and prices start from €199 for 3G variant. The LTE variant will cost €249. The Alcatel Idol 2 Mini will be available to purchase in Europe by the end of March 2014. The prices start from €169 for 3G variant and €209 for LTE version. Stay tuned for more updates.
