The Quechua, a popular mountaineering brand has teamed up with Archos to launch its first outdoor smartphone featuring Google’s Android 4.1 OS. The smartphone is resistant to shock, mud, water, sans, snow and extreme cold temperatures. The rugged smartphone features a 5-inch HD display with resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. It is powered by Qualcomm’s 1.2GHz quad core processor and 1GB RAM. For multimedia, Quechua smartphone packs a 5 Mega Pixel rear camera capable of shooting HD videos. For connectivity, it supports Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, GPS/GPS-A, microUSB port and 3G/HSPA+ mobile connections. For storage, Quechua comes with 4GB built-in memory and micro-SD card slot. The smartphone comes pre-installed with Android 4.1 OS and full suite of Google apps including Gmail, Google Play, Google+, Hangouts and YouTube. In addition to that it comes with a powerful 3500mAh non-removable battery. The Quechua outdoor smartphone will be available to purchase in Europe by the end of Q4 2013 for $310.
