Nexus 5 is the first flagship smartphone from Google featuring the next generation Android 4.4 OS. It was previously rumored few months ago. In size, it measures 137.84 x 69.17 x 8.59 mm and weighs only 130g. The Nexus 5 features a 4.95-inch Full HD IPS display with resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels (445 ppi pixel density). It is powered by Qualcomm’s 2.3GHz Snapdragon 800 processor with Adreno 330 GPU and 2GB RAM. For multimedia, Nexus 5 packs an 8 Mega Pixel rear camera with Optical Image Stabilization and 1.3 Mega Pixel front facing camera for video calls. For connectivity, it supports Bluetooth 4.0 LE, Wifi 802.11 b/g/n/ac, GPS, microUSB, NFC technology, built-in Wireless Charging capability and LTE mobile connections. The Nexus 5 comes pre-installed with Google’s Android 4.4 OS (Android KitKat). In addition to that Nexus 5 will be constantly listening to voice commands and a user can trigger a search at anytime by saying “Ok Google”. The Nexus 5 packs a powerful 2300mAh battery that gives talk time of up to 17 hours and standby time of up to 300 hours.
The Nexus 5 will go on sale in UK for £295 (for 16GB variant). The first thousand buyers who buys Nexus 5 from Carphone Warehouse on contract will also get a free 16GB Nexus 7 (2012). Stay tuned for more updates or follow @harrym20 on Twitter.
Update : A new Nexus Wireless Charger is now available to purchase from Google Store for $50 (Only in US and Canada). In size, it measures 60 x 60 x 12.5mm and weighs 105g. The Qi Wireless charger comes with a 9W 1.8A AC Adapter. It is compatible with Nexus 5, Nexus 7 and Nexus 4.
Update : Google is rumored to launch a new red color variant for its latest flagship smartphone in the coming weeks. The packaging of red Nexus 5 is leaked on Twitter via @artyomstar.
