Moto X is the latest flagship smartphone from Motorola featuring Google’s Android 4.2 OS. It was previously leaked few months ago and was also known by its model number XT1058. It is the first flagship smartphone developed and released by Motorola since it was acquired by Google. The Moto X features a 4.7-inch HD display with resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels (316ppi pixel density. It is powered by Motorola’s new X8 CPU (Snapdragon S4 Pro processor with 1.7GHz dual core krait CPU and quad core Adreno 320 GPU) and 2GB RAM. For multimedia, Moto X packs a 10 Mega Pixel ClearPixel camera at back and 2 Mega Pixel front facing camera for video calls. The Quick camera capture is a gesture based shortcut that let’s you start the camera quickly. Just twist the wrist twice in order to launch the camera. For connectivity, it supports Bluetooth 4.0, Wifi 802.11 b/g/n/ac, GPS technology, GLONASS, USB 2.0 NFC technology and LTE mobile connections. For storage, Moto X comes with 16GB or 32GB built-in memory. In addition to that it packs a powerful 2200mAh battery .
The Moto X is a fully customizable smartphone and users will be able to select from variety of colors. One color can be used for the back case and another can be selected for the trim of the phone. Users will also be able to engrave a name or message on the back cover as well as upload a personal photo through a website to be used as the wallpaper on the phone’s screen. The Moto X will always be listening to owners voice command. Saying “OK Google now” will prompt the Moto X’s Touchless Control system to listen for instructions. The Moto X will be available to purchase in USA by the end of August 2013. The 16GB model will cost $199 with a two-year contract on AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, US Cellular and Verizon, while the 32GB will be an AT&T exclusive and costs $249. At launch, AT&T will also be an exclusive carrier on which Moto X owners will be able to customize the physical design of smartphone via Moto Maker. Update : Motorola’s latest flagship smartphone Moto X will not go on sale in UK. The Motorola spokesperson has confirmed to Pocket-Lint that the device will not be coming to the UK.
Update : According to Motorola’s senior VP of product management R Osterloh, the wooden back cover (pictured below) for latest flagship Moto X will arrive in Q4 2013.
Update : Motorola is going to launch a 32GB DEVELOPER EDITION version of its latest flagship Moto X in coming weeks.
Update : Moto X Developer Edition for GSM networks is now officially available to purchase from Motorola website for $649.99. It features a special black and woven white Developer Edition design and 32GB built-in memory.
Update – Motorola is rumored to launch a Moto X variant in the UK at a press event in London on January 14th 2014. It has also been suggested that Moto X will be launched with Moto Maker website where users can personalize their new smartphone.
Update : Motorola’s current flagship smartphone Moto X will go on sale in the UK starting February 1st 2014. It will be available to purchase for £380 (SIM-free) or £25 a month on a two-year contract. The Moto Maker website will not be available at launch but it is expected to be available in the coming months.
