Microsoft officially announces its next generation gaming console – Xbox One at a live Xbox event on May 21st. It will be an all-in-one console that will bring games, TV and entertainment in one package. The new Xbox One can be used using voice commands and will also respond to gesture controls. Skype is deeply integrated in the gaming cosole. The Xbox One will be powered by Octa core processor based on Jaguar Design and 8GB RAM. It will come with 500 GB of hard drive storage. For connectivity, it will support USB 3.0, Wifi Direct, Blu-ray drive and HDMI in and out. The Xbox One Guide is a feature that use voice commands to navigate TV guide. There is no need to remember your favorite channels anymore. The Xbox One games will be more immersive, more personal and more connected than ever before. Call of Duty : Ghosts will be exclusively available on Xbox One at launch. Quantum Break and Forza Motorsport 5 are other few games that will be available at launch. Microsoft Studios is also planning to launch 15 new games in the first year of Xbox One which will include 8 brand new franchises. There is no further information available on the console and games. Microsoft is expected to announce more details at E3 conference (June 2013). The Xbox One will rival Sony’s next generation gaming console – PlayStation 4 and is expected to launch during Q4 of 2013. Update : Microsoft’s next generation gaming console Xbox One will cost £429 when it launches in November.

Update : Microsoft confirmed that chat headset will not be included in the Xbox One package. Gamers will need to pay extra for the chat headset.

Update : Microsoft confirmed that users need Xbox Live Gold subscription to access online features of next flagship gaming console including Game DVR mode (that automatically records and let’s user to share gameplay videos and achievements), Skype video calling and the One Guide TV programming that let’s user to browse and control live TV with a unified interface.

Update : The Xbox One will have 23 games to play at launch day. There are all the big names like Battlefield 4, FIFA 14, Dead Rising 3, Call of Duty : Ghosts and Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag. In addition to that Microsoft is teaming up with Activision for a Call of Duty: Ghosts bundle for the Xbox One which will include “special bonus content”. FIFA 14 will be given for free to pre-order customers.

  • Update : Microsoft’s next generation gaming console will be launched on November 22nd 2013. Microsoft’s Xbox Social Marketing Manager, Graeme Boyd tweeted, “Official: Xbox One launch date is November 22, 2013 (UK, Eire, Austria, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, US, CAN, MEX, BRA, AUS, NZ)”.

    Update : Microsoft officially announced ‘Xbox Fitness’, a new online service built exclusive for Xbox One that takes the world’s most popular fitness videos and makes them interactive. The extensive library of videos from world’s biggest fitness brands including Tony Horton, Jillian Michaels, Tracy Anderson and others, will be available for free with Xbox Live Gold memberships through December 2014.

    Update : Google officially releases YouTube App for Microsoft’s next generation gaming console Xbox One. The app takes advantage of Xbox One features like voice and gesture commands. Xbox One owners can control the app by saying “YouTube” anywhere in the app. The commands like play, pause and fast forward will instantly pop up on the screen.

    Update : Since last week, a supposed hack has been circulating across social media promising to unlock new features like new console’s ability to play Xbox 360 games. Microsoft has officially confirmed that there is no hidden backwards compatibility on the Xbox One console that will allow users to play Xbox 360 games. The prank involves six steps, opening the Developer Console menu and changing vital settings before attempting to reboot. This six step process actually locks the gaming console into an endless reboot cycle and make the console completely inoperable.
