The PlayStation 4 is the fourth generation gaming console from Japanese manufacturer Sony. It will offer the best gaming experience for always connected generation. The PlayStation 4 will be powered by Octa core x86-64 AMD processor with 1.84 TFLOPS GPU and 8GB GDDR5 RAM. For connectivity, it will support Bluetooth 2.1, Wifi 802.11 b/g/n, HDMI, USB 3.0, Analog AV port, Gigabit Ethernet port, 6x Blu-Ray, 8x DVD and digital optical outputs. The PlayStation 4 will come with 500GB hard drive.
The PlayStation 4 will come with all new Streamlined user interface. The social aspect of gaming is deeply integrated in the UI. Users can now watch their friends playing games and can offer tips in real time. They can even take control of their games. The PlayStation 4 will come with a newly designed DualShock 4 controller. The controller features a new three-axis gyroscopic motion sensor, accelerometer and 3D light tracker at back. It also has a touch panel on the front with resolution of 1920 x 900 pixels. In addition to that DualShock 4 controller comes with a new Share button which let’s users share their gaming experience with their friends on social media networks. The PlayStation 4 Eye cam uses two high sensitivity camera equipped with wide-angle lenses to track new controller panel in 3D space. PlayStation Vita can double as an extra interface for the PS4 console. The best part is that iOS or Android smartphone users can connect via an app and shop for new game titles or annoy friends on the go.
PlayStation 4 will offer a true mobile gaming experience. The PS4 will not support native PlayStation 3 games. However PS3 games will be available in the form of digital downloads or cloud streaming. Sony confirmed few PS4 games at the official unveiling party back in February. Deep Down, Destiny, Diablo III, Driveclub, Final Fantasy, Infamous : Second Son, Killzone : Shadow Fall, Knack, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Watch Dogs are the games that will be available at PS4 launch.

Update : Sony’s next generation gaming console will have no restriction on used games. In addition to that users don’t need an internet connection to play games. The existing PlayStation Plus membership will carry over from PS3 to PS4. PS4 owners don’t have to pay any additional fee. The PlayStation Plus membership is now required to play multi-player games on PlayStation 4.
Update : According to latest report form Polygon, Sony is offering development kit for next generation PlayStation 4 (worth $2500) for free to indie games developers. Sony confirmed that it loaned developments kits in the past and will continue its efforts to bring more developers to PlayStation platform.
Update : Sony Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida confirms that PlayStation 4 won’t need a PlayStation Plus subscription to record and share gameplay videos.
Update : Sony reveals that PlayStation 4 will go on sale in North America on November 15th and Europe on November 29th.
Update : According to Eurogamer, Sony is making a loss of $60 for every PlayStation 4 console sold. The PS4 hardware will make a loss at launch, but Sony expects to immediately recoup the cost through the sales of PlayStation Plus memberships.

Update : Sony PlayStation 4 has a 50 per cent advantage in terms of raw performance in comparison to Microsoft’s Xbox One gaming console. The PS4 trumps the Xbox One for Call of Duty : Ghosts game play.
Update : Sony officially announced the entertainment apps that will be available to download at the launch of PlayStation 4. The list includes the popular apps like Netflix, Hulu Plus, EPIX, Redbox Instant, Amazon Instant Video, NBA Game Time, NHL GameCenter Live, Crackled, Crunchyroll, VUDU and YuppTV. All these apps will be available to download from the TV and Video section of the Console Menu.
Update : Unlike Microsoft, Sony will not ban PlayStation 4 gaming console that are shipped ahead of schedule. Shuhei Yoshida, President of Worldwide Studios at Sony confirmed this latest news in a tweet.

Update : Sony has sold 1 million units of its next generation PlayStation 4 Gaming console in the first 24 hours that it was available in the United States and Canada. The PlayStation 4 console went on sale on November 15th. Sony is aiming to sell 5 million PS4 units by the end of March 2014.
Update : According to a new leaked image (pictured below), Sony PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita ‘Ultimate Edition’ bundle will go on sale in December 2013. There is no official information available on this bundle but it is expected to hit stores before Christmas.
Update : Sony has officially announced that more than 2.1 million PlayStation 4 have been sold worldwide since its launch. Sony will continue to introduce new features and services to PS4 in the coming months. The PlayStation 4 launched in North America on November 15th, selling more than one million units in just 24 hours.
Update : Sony has officially announced that it has sold more than 5.3 million PlayStation 4 units around the world as of February 8th 2014.
