Ascend Mate is the first phablet to feature a 6.1-inch display. Phablets are going mainstream since the launch of Samsung Galaxy Note II last year. The Ascend Mate was first rumored back in December last year. The Ascend Mate will feature a 6.1-inch HD display with the resolution of 1280×720 pixels. It will be powered by a 1.5GHz quad core processor and 1GB RAM. For multimedia, Ascend Mate will feature an 8 Mega Pixel rear camera capable of shooting 1080p videos. For connectivity, it supports Bluetooth 4.0, Wifi 802.11 b/g/n and 3G mobile connections. The Ascend Mate also features a 4000mAh battery. Huawei Ascend Mate will compete directly against other phablets like Samsung Galaxy Note II, Oppo Find 5 and HTC Droid DNA. There is no information available on pricing and availability at this time. Update : Huawei Ascend Mate is now available to purchase from all leading mobile operators in Asia. It will be available in Europe by the end of July 2013.
