At last, after 18 months delay BlackBerry (formerly known as RIM) officially unveiled its next generation BlackBerry 10 OS. The BlackBerry Z10 is the latest flagship smartphone featuring a brand new BlackBerry 10 operating system. The BlackBerry 10 OS is based on QNX technology that RIM acquired back in 2010. The BlackBerry 10 is the future of BlackBerry and will integrate both smartphone and PlayBook tablet seamlessly. In size, it only measures, 130 x 66 x 9.2mm and weighs only 138g. The BlackBerry Z10 features a 4.2-inch HD display with 1280 x 768 pixels. It is powered by 1.5GHz dual core SnapDragon S4 plus processor and 2GB RAM. For multimedia, BlackBerry Z10 comes with an 8 Mega Pixel rear camera capable of shooting full HD videos and a 2 Mega Pixel front facing HD camera capable of shooting 720p video. The camera comes with a new feature called Time Shift. It captures a few seconds on either side of the actual image and give users an option to select the right moment. The picture editor on BlackBerry Z10 features Instagram like native photo filters. It features different modes like Automatic, Action, Whiteboard, Night, Beach and many more. For connectivity, the BlackBerry Z10 supports Bluetooth 4.0, Wifi 802.11 b/g/n, NFC technology, microUSB, microHDMI port and LTE Mobile connections. The BlackBerry Z10 will come pre-installed with next generation BlackBerry 10 operating system. The next flagship will come in two different versions based on the built-in storage – 16GB & 32GB. In addition to that it will also come with a microSD card slot. The BlackBerry Z10 will come with a 1800mAh LS-1 battery that gives the talk time of up to 8 hours on single charge. RIM officially unveiled its next flagship smartphone today and confirmed that it will be available in UK from tomorrow and in canada during February 2013. The BlackBerry Z10 will directly compete against other flagship smartphones like Apple iPhone 5, Samsung Galaxy S III, HTC One X+, HTC 8X and Nokia Lumia 920.

Overall, BlackBerry Z10 is impressive in terms of hardware and design. It looks refresh and feels new in comparison to iOS or Android devices. RIM has bet all its future on QNX and 2013 will be either make or break time for struggling canadian company. RIM also confirmed that BlackBerry 10 commercial will air during Super Bowl XLVII to show off its next generation platform. It has to perfect a product launch and this can bring back old glory days.
