Microsoft Surface tablet

Surface Tablet is the first own branded tablet from Redmond giant Microsoft. It will compete directly against Apple’s iPad in ever competent tablet induatry. There will be two main versions for the device – One running Windows RT and second running Windows 8 Pro (Coming out in 2013). Surface is thin, light and has a great battery life. At 9.3mm Surface for Windows RT version it is just thin enough to still sport a full size USB port. Print, share or charge your phone on the go using the USB port. Surface packs a 10.6-inch 16:9 widescreen HD display with the resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels. Microsoft’s ClearType HD Display technology delivers a great picture for movies. An ultra wide viewing angle makes it easy for your friends to share in the vibrant experiemce. The Auto-adjusting screen intensity delivers great visual clarity, indoors and outdoors. In size, it measures 10.81 x 6.77 x 0.37 inches. Windows RT version only weighs 676g compare to 903g for a Windows 8 Pro version. Surface tablet will be powered by NVIDIA’s 1.5GHz dual core processor and 2GB RAM. Other main features of the device are slot for microSD card, USB 2.0 port, Micro HD video and 2×2 MIMO antennae. For multimedia, Surface tablet features two 720p front and rear cameras. Surface Tablet is mainly based on key gestures. To switch between running apps, Simply drag a finger from the left edge in. Swipe from the bottom will bring menu and options. Start menu have direct access to Xbox video, Xbox Music and Shop where you can download apps. Movies are available to buy or rent from the video store. If you have Xbox Live account you’ll love SmartGlass app. It let’s you easily connect your Xbox Live account and then control your Xbox via the tablet. Surface tablet comes with a newly designed Internet Explorer browser. It is a full screen browser. Swipe from top or bottom to see menu or options. Surface tablet will be launched with all the important apps like Netflix, Kindle, SkyDrive, Skype and free productive suite Microsoft Office.

Surface comes with an integrated kickstand and a pressure sensitive cover that doubles as a fully functioning keyboard and trackpad. Surface tablet is specially designed to work with keyboard and mouse. The touch cover connects to Surface Tablet with a single magnetic click. Now you can chat with friends and respond to the emails comfortably. Surface Tablet comes with a precision crafted VaporMg casing that protects the vital technology inside and leaves a high quality finish and feel when using the device.

Overall, Surface is a great competitor to Apple’s iPad in the tablet industry. Surface Tablet is a perfect companion to Windows desktops and Laptops. There is not much difference between Windows 8 and Windows RT tablets. Windows RT is built to run on ARM CPUs unlike Windows 8 which runs on Intel & AMD CPUs. Windows RT desktop looks similar to Windows 8 version. In terms of hardware, they do look alike but software is hugely apart. Close similarity to the existing Windows comes with added benefits. Existing Windows hardware work nicely with new Windows 8. Surface Tablet will come in two different versions of Storage : 32GB & 64GB running Windows RT version and 64GB & 128GB running Windows 8 Pro. Surface tablet will cost $399 for 32GB version (excluding the touch cover) and $699 (including Touch cover) for 64GB version. Touch cover will cost $119 to buy on its own. Update : Microsoft Surface tablet running Windows RT prices were announced on Oct 16. The 32 GB version will cost $499 and 64GB will cost $599. The biggest drawback is that these prices don’t include that impressive keyboard. It will be sold as a separate accessory for $120. Microsoft will start shipping Surface tablets on October 26.
